Extra Baby Belly Fat

Even if you had an excellent and memorable pregnancy, one thing you may want to forget is all the baby weight you gained! Finding out how to lose the baby belly or the baby belly fat that is preventing you from getting back into your favorite jeans is a concern you share with most new mothers. Unfortunately, having a baby means you rarely have the time or the energy to rush off to the gym every day. You also have to regulate the amount of exercise and types of exercise you are doing, so you do not lose the weight too quickly (important if you’re breastfeeding) or put harmful strain on your body.

Always consult your doctor before beginning an exercise routine to lose the baby belly. Your body has just undergone an almost yearlong ordeal, so you will need to focus on light exercises to prevent injury. Generally, you may need to wait up to two months before beginning a real exercise program. Your doctor can also direct you toward the specific exercises that will help you tone the belly area so you can lose the baby belly more quickly.

Tips
Keep the exercise in-house. Rent or buy exercise DVDs. Your local library should have them for free with a library card. Working out at home allows you to lose the baby belly fat without having to put on fancy gym clothes (that may no longer fit). It also means you can work out when the baby is napping without having to get a babysitter. Even if you can only work out for 10 minutes and then have to pause the video and come back to it later, it’s worth it. If you don’t feel like doing a set routine, make up your own- walk laps around the driveway, do some gently sit ups in your living room, or make your own weights out of heavy books or full gallons of water.

Don’t focus on the guilt. You may feel badly about taking time away from housework, your job, or your new little one to do something for yourself. Remember that being healthy and physically fit sets a good example for your baby. It will also give you the energy you’ll need to handle a newborn. Finally, exercising can help stabilize the mood swings you experience after giving birth that come from hormonal changes.

Lose The Baby Belly and Baby Belly Fat, Stay Hydrated!
Stay hydrated. Your body is already in the process of releasing fluid retained during pregnancy. If you’re breastfeeding, that just adds to the fluid loss. Drink plenty of water during and after your exercise routine so you do not lose your milk supply. Water intake will also help flush out excess baby belly fat and lose that baby belly shape.

Baby Belly Fat: Exercise Routine

Whether you’re a brand new mom who hasn’t even started trying to lose your baby belly, or your “baby” is now four years old and you still have those stubborn five pounds left from your pregnancy, you can lose the baby belly with some simple exercise. Some moms do not want to hear that eating well and moving more are the secret to losing the baby belly fat- but they are! However, not just any old exercise routine will do. You will need a combination of cardiovascular exercises, general strength training, and ab-focused movements to really lose that baby belly.

Contrary to popular belief, there is now real way to target fat loss in a specific area of the body. You cannot exclusively do ab workouts and expect to only lose baby belly fat. Fat distribution does not function in that way. Maintaining the proper cardiovascular exercises in your routine will produce fat loss over your entire body- including the belly area. If you’re a new mom, start very slowly, with low-impact cardio exercises. Try walking for 20 minutes a day, just a few times per week. You can also swim, do medium-paced yoga, or use an elliptical machine. As your body recovers from childbirth, increase the intensity of your workouts (if you want) to help lose the baby belly fat more quickly.

Lose The Baby Belly and Baby Belly Fat

When focusing on how to lose a baby belly, it is important to consider your core muscles as a whole. Pregnancy can stretch and weaken the muscles in your core, which are essential to a new mother because they help support you as you pick your baby up, and they help hold your torso erect as you nurse. Properly strengthened core muscles help prevent back strain. Core exercises will also help you tone the muscles in your abdomen, which will help flatten your tummy. The movements associated with Pilates are very core-focused. There are also ab-focused yoga exercises, or you can create your own core routine from a combination of crunches and pelvic tilts.

Finally, it is important to incorporate general strength training into a workout routine. Strength training will help increase your metabolism so the calories you consume don’t translate to more baby belly fat. It will also build muscle tissue, tightening the loose muscles in your abdomen (in addition to the core exercises). When selecting strength-training exercises, chose those that involve several muscle groups so you get the most efficacy in the shortest amount of time. Lunges paired with bicep curls are an example of this. Squats paired with military presses (with or without weights) are another example. Just like you did with your cardio workout, keep the impact light and the exercise duration short if you’ve just had your baby.

Always consult your doctor when trying to find the best exercise solution for how to lose a baby belly or baby belly fat. Stay hydrated and listen to your body. Never pursue an exercise routine that involves pain or unnatural discomfort.

Eating Tips:

Eat frequent meals, small, 6 times a day.  Almost like you are grazing.  This will help you lose the baby belly.  Never starve yourself, this is the worst thing you can do.

If you are like most woman we have a weakness for cheese.  use extra sharp cheddar cheese cut thinly and add it to any sandwich.  The extra sharp cheddar has such a stronger taste, so you won't have to use much of it to get that added cheese flavor.  Take some small pieces of extra sharp cheddar, some crackers (pretzel crisps work great) and a few slices of turkey pepperoni and you have yourself a quick snack that tastes great...
